Position: GIS Technician

The City of Frankfort, Kentucky, seeks qualified 
applicants for the position of GIS Technician in the Public Works
Department. Under direct supervision using ArcGIS software,
collects, creates, edits, maintains, updates and plots GIS data.
Performs entry and intermediate level GIS activities. Develops
simple application programs and produces computer cartographic
products.
 
Minimum Requirements:
Education: Requires an Associate or Bachelor degree in
Geography, Computer Science, or related field – with a minimum of six (6) semester hours in GIS coursework.  Two (2) years of GIS related experience will substitute for the college education. An additional year of GIS experience will substitute for the six hours of GIS coursework.
Experience:
Knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS software suite is
preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who possess
experience in construction or public utilities. Must possess strong
project management skills, be able to work independently, and
have strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal
skills. 
Other: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License
as a condition of employment.


Position: Engineering Tech I

applicants for the position of Engineering Tech I in the Sewer
Department. Under direct supervision, performs plan reviews for
residential, commercial, and industrial developments.  Plan and
specification preparation/review for public infrastructure projects. 
Perform inspections of public infrastructure projects.

Minimum Requirements:
Education:
Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or
comparable 2-year degree. Relevant work experience of at least
4 years may be substituted for college education.
Experience: Preference will be given to candidates who possess
experience in public utilities. Must possess strong project
management skills, be able to work independently, and have
strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
Other: Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License as a
condition of employment.


Position: Sewer Plant Operator Trainee

Compensation: Grade 66 (Entry wage is typically $13.22 per hour)

Under general supervision assists in the daily operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant and performs related work as required.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Graduation from high school or equivalent. 
Experience:  No previous work experience requirements.
Special Requirements:  Must obtain a Wastewater Operator Trainee license issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky within one year of employment in the position.  Must possess a valid driver’s license.  Must be able and willing to work periodic overtime as scheduled or needed.  Must be able and willing to work holidays, weekends and/or any shifts as needed.  Must be capable of understanding oral and written instructions.

Applying For A Fire Or Police Recruit Position
